Hey, I’m Renee.
I want to bring your story to life.
I like to work as a team, collaborating to strengthen and refine a writer’s vision.
My Approach
Author-First
I believe the role of an editor is to help an author refine and perfect their vision for a piece. I’m here to make your writing the best version of what you want it to be, not to insert my preferences / style / voice into your work.
Wether your goal is to catch the eye of a literary agent, get a good story straight to your audience by self-publishing, or simply to improve your craft for personal or academic reasons, I’m here to help.
Collaborative
I like to work closely with my writers, making sure I understand exactly what they need from me and how they feel about my feedback.
For example, if I feel strongly that a scene or line should be cut, but my author feels strongly that it should remain, my first step is going to be learning why it is important and what the author believes the scene/line is accomplishing in the piece. Often I change my mind, and if I don’t, I work with the author to ensure the aspect of the writing that is most important to them is still communicated, perhaps just in a different way.
At the end of the day, I work for you, and you have the final say on all revisions—I can only provide you with my best advice to achieve your goals.

Pricing is based on both the project's scope and your desired service. For strictly line-editing, I charge 0.02 / word, so a manuscript of 80,000 words would run you around $1,600 [prices may vary slightly for poetry].
It’s a little less cut and dry with manuscripts in the developmental stage, because the shape it’s is in when I receive it can change the timeline significantly. I determine costs on a project-by-project basis, but usually it’s around .03 / word, and if we end up needing to have long in-person or over-the-phone meetings, I may need to charge an additional hourly rate.
Ultimately this is something we can discuss and determine together based on my assessment of a project and your goals.
